depends where you buy.
DVLA is a flat fee, no hidden charges, some places have and £80 transfer fee on top of the screen price.
the DVLA is the best place to buy.

some insurance companies will charge you to change the plates and send out a new certificate. Also if your car is on finance they sometimes charge you when you inform them of the change.
If you buy off the dvla then you pay everything in the one cost (plate cost, transfer fees, etc.) so no hidden charges. Just the cost of the new plates and your done!

no yearly charge etc..
Just beware if you take it off your car and put it on retention you have to pay X amount per year or it will be lost...
As long as It's asigned to a vehicle your sound, or pay the yearly charge.

nice one...
Just remember when you are thinking of selling your car give it a few weeks for plate to come off and go on retention or another vehicle, as said £80 every time.
