My brother-in-law's dad has an E46 M3 CSL at the moment, and has been given an M5 for the weekend to test, as he is considering it for his next car.

Quick is not the word, infact, I can't think of anything which describes how fast it is

a 4 door barge should not be that fast.

i had a nod once off an e60 m5 driver, i wnt flat out after him in the valver, i just kept if flat for longer than he did :-)
