Just got a had a telephone interview for a position for a customer advisor for Yorkshire bank...

All went well etc, and at the end i have been told to go to some sort of assesment tomorrow, involving numeracy test and accuracy.... Is this a formal thing does anyone know? Involving dressing up casually, or informal?

Woman over the phone didnt explain much, just that i have to be at Wigan tomorrow for 9:30

I'm good at numeracy anyway so that's not a problem!

Is this ''assesment'' a interview do you think, or just a general thing for the bank?

my theory is that you can't go wrong if you dress smartly, even if nobody else there is dressed up it just shows you've made more effort etc

it depends on which sort of tests they throw at ya

Halifax - was a written exam - with various questions - involving percentages and basic maths - get 30min to get as many correct reply's as you can.

Barclays - Was a pile of 30 cheques placed in front of you - which had to be sorted out - remove any invalid cheques - then was various questions how many for this day or how many all together - things like that.

The telephone interview is only the first hurdle - once get past the tests you still have a full iterview to go - normally carried out by branch manager or area manager.

good luck

but be warned - and i cant make this point strong enough - it will be stressful and sales targets will play a very large part in the job.

of course dress smartly, its a bank, you will have to dress smartly everyday for work, go in in anything not smart and you won't get the job.
