Dropped block (20XEJ) of at engineers yesterday and they called back today with their grim preliminary findings. The block needs a rebore and needs decking(skimming?) they were unsure if this has been done previously, if it has the pistons may need grinding down to suit the block, as the bores are well worn I'd also need new oversized pistons, the crank needs regrinding, the flywheel then needs balancing and one of my conrods is knackerred, Happy Tuesdays eh! Can someone advise me on costs for each item? Or offer me a decent replacement bottom end that requires a little less work? Should I just buy another engine and keep the rest as spares. Ive got a spare crank and spare set of conrods but im not sure if there identical, what are the differences, If any?
