Exactly. The area of Bournemouth I live in is being over run by people from places like Jordan, Saudi, Iraq etc so I have a very strong view on this and some opinions I wont share on here

We build them mosques (sp) synagogues etc but if went to a country like that and said 'here, look, build us a church' like you rightly said, we'd probably be handed a dose of corporal punishment.

James lives in the same area as me and he will tell you the same, theres a lot of middle eastern people here, and they all seem to have ncie cars. And our area isnt cheap to live in..............which would bring me on to another sore point of the hand outs they get. I wont go there though

Think if someone wants to wear one, let them, but if they are asked to take it off for whatever reason then they should

Instead of hearing these stories in the news that some woman kicked off a strom because she was asked to remove it,

a number of important figure heads speaking out isn't helping this at all, the chasm its creating between cultures and religions is actually worsening a bad situation.

I would hazard a guess that the Pope saying that there god has brought only misery and war then Jack Straw saying there women shouldn't be wearing veils is making them feel intimadated by other groups and that's when they begin to fight back.

As far as im concerned, any highly religious country expects outsiders to conform to their cultural norms, there is no debate, no arguments.

I dont see what is wrong with us expecting them to conform to our norms if they want to come into our country.

I believe in some shopping centres last year, they didn't have a santa, or excessive amounts of decorations in case of offending some religions.

As for the Muslim veils story.... if someone wants to wear them, fair enough, it doesn't really bother me a huge amount, however if i was trying to have a conversation with someone wearing one, I wouldn't feel bad by asking for them to remove it, so I could hear them correctly.

It made me laugh, when I was watching BBC news the other morning and they were interviewing a Muslim women wearing a veil, and she was saying how Jack Straw 'demands' they take it off and changing the story, when he clearly said he 'asks' them to remove the head gear, so he can have a proper convesation with them, which I don't have an issue with at all.

All this takes the piss TBH. I don't mind veils, it is their religion. I do feel uncomfortable speaking to people if I can't see their face.

Jack Straw had a point there. Personally, I would prefer without.
