basic story is:

sent 2 seatbelt pretensioners (2 seperate parcels tp 2 different people) through a courier, they never arrived, never got a proper explanation why from the courier. im waiting for a compensation pack from them.

so, managed to get 2 more pretensioners to send out to replace them. Used royal mail through the post office. nothing happens, they dont arrive, ring Royal Mail for an explanation and they say that due to security reasons they wont deliver them. Asked for an explanation why and got no further. went to the post office I sent them from and they said they would follow it up for me to find out why (I know the postmaster) and to call back on monday.

do royal mail scan/x-ray parcels? would a pretensioner look dodgy on an x-ray? what is the usual procedure for this when it happens?

I know cos i sadly work there atm

The only things that get scanned are things that are going abroad - and get pulled out because the person sending the item has to declare wots in it, but they get sent to the AirPort and everything is scanned

Obviously u paid the right amount ?
Did u have to declare wot u were sending ?
If it's to another part of England, it shud ave been sent.

See if something is too big to fit in a bag, they get a sticky wallet and a label put on them. Then put in the cage to be seg'd in distribution. But in ur case, it wud fit in a bag :S

O btw, did u send it Special Delivery ?

It will be scanned depending on how its transported, not just whether or not its going abroad. If it goes by lorry, I don't think they'll bother but it will be scanned if going by plane, as they have to make sure its safe enough for the plane. So, as the pre-tensioners are effectively explosive, it isn't safe to be transported by plane. I presume they decided to send it wherever it was going by plane

It would be scanned if going by air, pretensioners like airbags are classed as a type of explosive as if triggered they can cause injury. Not sure how they would know what they were unless they went off at some point lol
