right...

say an auction has a starting price of £5, and the reserve is £10 but you dont know that, and you bid £15.

as ebay bids automatically, it will bid £5 for you. if nobody elses bids it remains at £5.

when the auction finishes...does it say reserve not met, or does it automatically jump to £10 so you win the item?

It did make sense yes...but I do not know the answer..

stays at reserve not met and only goes up after another bid

found this out the hard way on the shop

yeah was selling a skyline cover and guy had bidded on it but he was the only one and it never reached the reserve so next time i listed it i upped the starting price and got rid of the reserve so that way people knew what to bid and it wouldnt happen again

but how did you know he had bid above the reserve price? he could've just bid the starting bid.

if you bid £15 and reserve is £10 as you say, the bid will be £10 else it means that you haven't reached the reserve price with the £15...

cos he was the same guy that won it when it got relisted so i assumed that he did the first time but you may have a point there
