ive dealt with a fair few dick coppers before, but there has been some decent ones, my old car broke down on a 2 lane road going into a town, some lad stopped and help me push it onto the path out the way, i didnt think at the time and we just pushed it onto the path, rang a mate meantime who is a mechanic and was on his way to help, a copper comes and i did instantly think, shit! lol
i went upto him and he just asked if everything was ok, i explained someone helped my car off the road as id broken down etc, he was like no worries as long as you are not blocking the path for long and all that, i said my mechanics on his way, and all he said was yeah thats fine mate, and he asked what engine i had, i said a converted 1.4 16v that breaks down alot
he replies, ah you have similiar problems to me then, i have a turbo'd vectra what isnt very reliable so i know how you feel,
goes to show there are some decent coppers, but in my opinion also, not very many!

Right i've read so much of this and YES again I'm going to have to waste my time splitting and trashing parts of this thread..Please ppl keep the petty arguments out of ppls posts..take it up in u2u or whatever..
On the actual topic I am with Shep..there is good cops and bad cops...end of..As you get in ANY job...
If they stop you and say they are going to test your exhaust they surely have to know about the laws and legal requirements to do this....
but i better get to work splitting this thread..I could just delete it all but it is a good read in some parts...

and well done for getting the charges dropped....
I have nothing against the police I may add, they were ALL excellent when we had our crash last year..Full of praise for the ones that dealt with us.

At the end of the day fair enough Shep played the system and this time he won. Because none of us were there we are only getting one side of the argument. If what Shep says is true and his exhaust is legal then fair play if not he'll come again. Police Officers just do their jobs and without us the country would be a shoot load worse.

i dont understand why theres so Much descent for police.
ok they target the motorist frequently but if your car is in order and you drive sensibley then no worries.
people who critise have only got something to worry about imo

Good lad ShEp! I hate cops too! They never bother me anymore, always used to get harrassed but I always harrass them now and they don't do anything! Try following them, they don't like it one bit, Most of the time the cops round me drive around aimlessly and that winds me up, its our tax paying for there fuel!!!!

i critisized them because they were not doing they're job properly,
simple FACT is
exhaust wasn't illegal, they charged me, i got charges dropped,
but somehow im still in the wrong??
no, its just that u thought i was in the wrong at the start and you nomal arrogance and shoot headed nature got it wrong and u now dont want to backtrack,
if u have nothing else of any bearing to say on this thread then dont bother, cos as far as im concerned its finished and over with, and i dont want to come on here everyday and read some tosspot statement from u making out that u know best and your far superior to anyone else who uses this forum,
 and thanks to everyone else for the support, just remeber next tiem u get stopped, there's no harm in asking questions, and if u smell somethings not right, fight it
