hey...
i currently have 4 years ncb. i renewed my insurance in may, so have 8 months left. the chances of my car being sold are high and i won't be buying a new car at the moment.
1. will i get some money back from the insurance company for the moths i have left? or will they let it run so i have 5 years ncb?
please don't laugh at my potentially stupid question, i haven't been in this situation before and have no idea
2. also, is there a time limit for ncb to run out? i have a company car so don't need my own insurance now, but in the future i don't want to have lost my 4 years ncb?
thanks

Didn't you make a post yesterday saying you weren't ever going sell it?

yes
i was torn between keeping it and not because it gets driven 1 or 2 times a month max.
someone rang me today about it and i'll happily sell it and get something again in a few months

You cancel & they refund a % - wont be alot!!
How can they continue it to reach 5yrs ncd if theres no car to insure

You have these options:
1. Cancel insurance and get refunded what you havnt used
2. Change insured car to another car in your family with a low a group as possible to maintain it till you get the 5 yrs NCD...then when you buy another swap the cars again..
3. Do nothing continue to pay monthly payments then change car when you get another...
Think thats it...
I would go with option 2 as I would not want to waste the 4 months in your 5th yr NCD you have gained...

when the company car is currently an mx5 or rx8 i don't really want to opt out. get fuel benefits to so i rarely have to stop at an actual garage and fill up.
on my 206 the insurance was all paid in one lump sum at the start. i'll have to ring them and see what they say

I thought it was 2 years without driving that your ncb is lost, or at least partly lost?
