Plastic wled will still crack off like filler. It's pretty much the same thing, you just melt it rather than let it chemically harden. Don't listen to people whinge on about it being any better.
Fibreglass paste will do the job fine so long as you key the plastic sufficiently and apply it all in one go.

yes mine is all welded flush. the fella i work for part time has created 16 performance vw feature cars, and loads in custom car mag, he swears by plastic welding.we had a golf come back after 6 years and it still looks fresh as ever. i asked my colledge tutor and he agreed...

it is better but more expensive and can't really just set about having a go yourself!
Fibreglass and skim of filler is the way mines done, been on over 2 years and not one crack.

But you aren't welding it, you are adding a different kind of melted plastic over the gap. Therefore you have 3 different types of plastic on the bumper.

So the technique your talking about is kind of like lead filling but with plastic rather than actually welding anything together (bear with me im thick )

i have found that using halfords plastic primer filler works best, spray on and sand down with 1500 grti wet and dry, looks mint and is easy to do and does not crack off at all, i have used it on bumpers, boot pulls and door handles.
