i got a £1600 quote for the first year but my second came down to £800 which I was chuffed with - got 5 months left on this policy so hopefully they'll still be cheapest then.

Laughed when i heard this report tho. guy from NU was saying its partly because of all the people not paying insurance - surely it makes no difference cos they don't have to pay out anyway??? just excuses to screw the customer for more money!

Pretty sure they do. Not sure on exact details, but there's something to do with a pot of money somewhere for claims against uninsured drivers that all insurance companies pay into

oh - i thought that if i was hit by an uninsured car i would have to pay......perhaps not quite so bad if people can get something back.

thing is that people don't pay insurance cos its well expensive.....how does putting the cost up help??? far better would be for the government to make sure drivers have better skills (contraversial!)

First of all they move most of their call centre to India...Now this...

In will be steering clear of NU from now on and can see most other people doing this...

i though if you were hit by an uninsured driver, you had to claim off your own insurance, wasnt aware there was a pot of money somewere that they pay out of lol.

sounds crap.

Nowrich Union did not quote me happy. I said that thier quote was rediculous - they told me about the price increases on young male drives. I told her that was discrimination, to which she didn't have much of a reply. I then said that Churchill quoted me half what you did. The lady was quite shocked at my outburst

they quoted me £3244 on the Omega, even though i'm 25 now...

needless to say, shopping around got it CONSIDERABLY less!

Rang them when I got the lowest quote, and asked them to beat it... lowest they would go was £2800 and when I asked how they can justify charging as much as they do, I had a hard time understanding what they were saying... god damn foreign call centers

did anyone else hear the guy from NU on Radio 1 tonight!

didn't care one bit, was just like "young drivers cause most of the accidents so we're only putting their prices up - if you don't like it thats tough". they also had people who'd left messages saying they were well unhappy and he pretty much said you can find another insurer.....not the way to treat customers!

i'm pretty sure i won't be renewing my insurance through them in january!

all insurance companies will be putting prices up now a major player like n.u has to follow suit because if they can get away with it so will they.

so much for a engine conversion
