drain the system, renew anti freeze and water, leave ticking over and keep topping the bottle up till its on max and stays there. leave to run for a while. not sure if, and where the bleeds are on the 8v's

thermo is working and heaters are mint, but the pipes are rock solid after driving about half hour....as soon as i release the lid on the header tank the pipes go soft as though the water is passing through properly
i may just be being wierd as i dont know if it is ment to be hard, but i burst the original pipe in what i believe was back pressure
read my post....burst pipe

take the lid off the header n squeeze the pipe then maybe it will get the air lock moving ?

run it up to temperature on idle (95oC), hold a cloth over the expansion tank lid and undo it. Should spurt loads of air and some coolant out.

you should just be able to start the car with the cap off of the water tank, let it get up to temperature and keep your eye on the level of the water, have a can ready with some more in, if the level drops then fill it up to the level and put the cap back on to let the water system pressurise. that should get rid of any air pockets etc.
if the level doesnt move when the cap is off then there shouldnt be any air pockets
