Right, i'm gona try start doing some jogging as basically I do fuck all excercise and eat and drink what I want. So decided it aint really a healthy lifestyle. Will try and go 3 times a week, wont want to go every night so 3 seems reasonable and is better than the nothing I do at the mo.

So how far is best to go? 1 mile? 2 miles?

Anybody else a regular jogger on here? Also do you feel a cunt jogging round your village, I think I may feel a tad stupid but hey ho.

Thanks

If you hav'nt run for a while start by buying some comfy running shoes & slowly building up your runs. Start small & go a bit further each time, try to set a relistic target for say 6 months time!!

1 mile? try 4 to begin with then build it up when you feel you can

you are best to run on the same surface to stop shin splints

and push yourself as hard as you can otherwise you wont feel the benefits..

i can jog 10 miles easily

The hardest part is to actually have the motivation to be bothered to go out jogging. Once your out you'll realise that at a steady pace you can jog for miles

Set yourself a little target IE: to somewhere & back

Do that for a while & then pick a further target/do an extra lap

Thats not true at all. You don't have to tow your bag off to train your aerobic system.

1 mile is hardly worth doing up your laces for mate, id reccomend 4 to start with just take it easy pace then work from there, i used to do 4 which wasnt really pushing it. generally do 7-9 now few times a week. picking a route is always good and trying to get your time down for 4 miles then when you think you aint really knoking much time off up it another few miles and so on...

You laugh at 1 mile to start with but if you've no no exercise for a long period of time then its best to start with something light.

I suffer real bad from shin splits so have to really start slowly and build up from there.

Say alternate days of 1 mile jogging on GRASS no concrete, then build that up the week after to 2 miles, etc etc once your muscles get into a routine then move to jogging on paths, roads.

Like Matt said its being arsed to actually get up and go for a run which is the biggest problem.

1 Mile is certainly worth doing his laces up for if he is doing no exercise at the moment. Someone who is unfit starting on 4 miles will be very tough. 1-2 for a few weeks will be fine.

Running steady for a long period will be better than doing short little sprints too. You'll burn more calories this way.
