you get caught driving a car thats for example 1.2 / 1.4 on the logbook but is actually a 2l?
Was just wondering cos a quick search of a government site is never the nicest or fastest thing in the world
also, if it looked standard would any old plod know the difference if for some reason u had to open the bonnet for them (can they make you do that or are they restricted to external area searches??)

They can do what they like and you would get shafted. Don't do it.

You would also get done for driving without valid tax and insurance which is points/possible ban/large fine

Pretty much, yes.
Your basically insuring, taxing etc a car that isnt what you are driving.
Even if the logbook does state it to be a 1.2/1.4, it's still a 2.0, which means that everything is fraud.

Insurance and tax would be void, so you would get done for that, not sure what the offence is for discrepencies on the logbook though - not sure if its an offence in its own right, although it is to not update details on your driving licence, might be similar to that.
