Saw that on here recently, and very nice, but as I mentioned, engine bay is a disgrace, and I now wish to add that the dashboard/fascia is possibly even more of a disgrace.

Its a rally car though surely?
Rob if it did cost 50K to build, it doesn't necessarily mean its worth that

no, but the person who is likely to buy it, would be someone who is looking to rally, but hasnt got a car, so its cheap for them, much better than building one.
its worth 50k if it sells at that
but i agree with Jim, the engine is wrong. and the dash is a bit odd, but probably functional.

errr,
So how is the engine 'wrong' then
There are better ways to start rallying than spunking 50k on a car mate

its a vauxhall engine, and its a ford car, thats how its wrong.
i know its not exactly the cheapest way but if someone is specifically looking for a mk2 escort rally car, for less money than building one, thats the way to go.
i wouldnt spend that on it though

If that had a BDA in it, and the dash hadn't been mutilated, and it had correct wheels, and it was painted a more suitable colour, it would be worth 50k all day as long as it has been correctly prepared to Group 4 spec.

i know for quite a few mk2 and mk1 escort rally cars that use XE engines , think they say that the vauxhall engine is more "revier" if thats even a word

Jules!
It wasn't entirely rhetorical was it?
You wouldn't have quoted me otherwise would you mate?
Just wondered what you were referring to in particular.
It would appear to be a rally car of sorts yes, but there are some very incorrect aspects to it's build.

I think 'cheapier' is probably the word they are looking for Spud.
