I read on here sumwhere that anything over a 3inch tailpipe loses 20bhp per inch but that sounds dodgy. I dont get how a bigger tailpipe wud make a dif.

I've got a dual system on my 1.2 8v
The mighty 45bhp corsa was running great until I added them on and it now only produces 25bhp
2 x 3.5" tailpipes
Which by your theory is totally correct 0.5" bigger so therefore I'm loosing 10bhp per side of my xooster
Need to go back to standard and get full power back again

I still dnt get y ya loose power cos its lettin the preasure out more freely.

you need moderate back pressure to maintain engine performance, its hard to explain. not too much, not too little. therefore its important not to go mad with the exhaust bore. what have you done with the inlet? because if you only have an exhaust, you may only be producing 1-2bhp more

you only need back pressure at low revs. once an engine rises thruogh the revs, back pressure is no longer an issue, and this is where small gains can be made with a free flowing exhaust, as it sllows the exhaust gases to escape more quickly.

Its cat back but im thinkin ov gettin an inlet manifold n maybe decat it. Im unsure wat to do about the induction, cnt decide. n them mantzel things seem to do a gud job but i dunno how crazy I can go without gettin a re-mappable ecu or a uni-chip.
