Looking to buy some wheels with 5-6mm tyres left. How much wear is this? I.e. how many mm would they have when new? And how many miles can I expect roughly from 5-6mm. Cheers.

they would have between 7 and 8mm new depending on the brand

cant comment on mileage, as every tyre/car wears differently

Laughing your balls off with that sort of tread, the minimum legal requirement is 1.6mm of tread across the central 3/4 of the tyre.

Most manufacturers recommend replacing at 2mm but other s such as BMW recommend 3mm, thats mega overkill in my opinion.

Under so called "normal" driving you get around 1000 miles to a mm, but as has been said, depends on your right foot and your cars alignment being mint

i'd be very upset if a set of tyres only lasted me 7000 miles under normal driving conditions...

depends on the tyres, but longer lasting ones would be closer to 3-4k per mm, if not even more.
