Im currently on my second year of my art and design national diploma, on the foundation year now. Im going to specialise in 3d design.
I want to do something at uni along the lines of designing with cad use and motorsport engineering. I havent done an engineering course but kind of wish I did motorsport engineering national diploma but would like to do something on the designing side.
I dont have physics gcse, I do however have maths and design and tech.
What sort of options are available can anyone suggest?
Thanks.

I found a course entitled product design with motorsport which sounds the part but is based at a uni in Scotland. Would like something a little closer to home.

Ring up the Uni that you fancy going or a couple and ask them..
They should be able to know a lot more and give you quite a bit of info..

I dont want to take a step back and do motorsport engineering nat dip, I can def see your point. Same applies for my current course, there is too much theory involved.
Product design with motorsport sounds cool, I want to basically concerntrate on the designing side of engineering, like designing components for rally cars. Like body parts, spoilers etc.
My dad said I should get in touch with prodrive and ask what qualifications they look for in employees.

Indeed, there's no harm whatsoever in canvassing employers to see what they're after. That might even be as simple as reading their person specifications if they're currently advertising, or even asking them for old specs if they've appointed in the past.
That should also be the type of question you are asking these places when you enquire about courses, as the more experience they have at putting people in to jobs, the more widely recognised your qualification will be when you go to the same group of employers.

The course i did, we had the option to do more of the engineering side, or more of the monkey work side...
and, at the end of the course, everyone who passed got work placement with a motorsport company.
its worth enquiring about that course James, but like I say, it wasnt what I expected it to be, it was all maths and stuff, and I didnt finish the course, I wish i had though, it would have been well worth it.

If all you have is a maths GCSE then you won't get too far in an engineering course. Unless you are very talented and have a natural ability for it.
