like matt said, ring them up and tell them - say you have the invoice/receipt to prove it.

If they ask for it, photocopy it and then send it recorded delivery - should have done that in the first place as police are shit for recieving mail

Id just go down to your local cop shop now with the receipt and in your car sho you can show them. Get the policemans name you spoke to and showed and if they do carry it on then you have that to hand.

When I got a producer (pulled over for speeding) I tried loads of times to go to the local station. Even left a note with my contact details saying I had tried calling and can you ring when your there so I can come round.

They didnt bother ringing so I left it. About 6 months later got my court summons through for not producing (so getting done for driving with no insurance, license, etc.) but had another week before he court date to produce my documents to stop it.

I produced them at the main station near us, thought all was fine. Couple of weeks later get another letter saying I failed to turn up at court and had been given a further 6 points and fined £400+. Rang them up, bollocked them down the phone as had produced my documents before and it turned out the bint at the police station had forgot to send my details to the courts!

It was all meant to go back to court to be sorted, but I heard nothing about it and that was 3 years ago now!

Here endths todays story.

Claire, get receipts for any work done to a car. It will show you have looked after the car when you sell it on.
