...well was meant to be,

drove 115 miles to see it, bloke on phone said it had a crack in bumper and the sill was marked

got to manchester at 9am with the cash, straight away noticed the car picture was different to the one on the ad, bumber was smashed off, side sills (both) were pushed in, looked like the car had been dropped, headrests were missing, parcel shelve gone, cd player not working, ECU light on and more miles then stated. also didnt have log book either. none of this was mentioned on the phone after a good 20 minute conversation lising all bad points.

anyways, its on a y reg, 63k, 3 door in silver. was up for 1500, bloke said 1400 bottom line. it had 2 new tyres, and new disks/pads/shoes all round.

was pissing down so couldnt really look underneath, bloke said it had hit a kerb hard and damaged the sills.

was 50/50 to take a risk or not, something was fishy with it, asked if it had any damage on history - he said no, he only had it 5 weeks and bought it for his 19 year old son who didnt want it (guy was only 20 himself lol)

so went to mcdonalds and had a think about it...text reg to 88600 and it came back as being a cat D on 26/05/2006

rang the bloke back up and he said he didnt know anything about it

needless to say i walked away with my money (but told him i would take it off his hands for 1k if he couldnt sell it lol)

moral:

if it looks too good to be true, it usually is

and 88600 CHECK is a brilliant life saver on the road!
