this is a logical theory but there is an equally logical counter argument

these diseases have always happened its only now we have the means to find them

also as a side note life expectancy is the highest its ever been

You need to appreciate how complicated cell division is, and how easy it can go wrong, and thus it regularly does go wrong and results in cancerous cells.

This is not a simple disease like smallpox, and this is not 'this' generations great incurable disease this will have been happening for tens of thousands of years, it has just not been documented or diagnosed correctly until recent generations.

My friend died about a year ago from cancer she was only 18 she had a rare sort of bone cancer, she had kemo and was ment to be in remission but the kemo was putting that much strain on such a small body she couldn't take it and passed away! The worst thing is she is an identical twin so its hard for her family especially as its like shes still here in a way! But she was soo young and it still hurts thinking about it!

I think everybody on this site could name someone who has cancer, and a large % who have directly affected.

it is a horrible disease and doctors are slowly finding ways of treating certain types.... lets hope they find ways of prevening it from happening.

you never get over something like that! Having to watch my friend like that was horrible she lost her hair and everything we all had to put on a brave face for her sake, worst part of it all was that she was told every day she was getting better then suddenly she was gone it was a huge shock!

I lost my nan to cancer last year. She was a strong woman and so proud of me going to uni being the only member in my family to do so. She said she would be there for my graduation no matter what. Unfortunately this was not the case. I graduate next year and i dedicate my absolute best to my work in honour of her memory. I wanna do well and i will, for myself, and for her. The best thing i ever did was spend valuable time with her before she passed away. sometimes it can be painful watching a loved one deteriorate, but i have no regrets. My memorys' of her will stay with me forever.

My girfriends family has a history of breast cancer. Her mum has had it twice, her nan only had chance to get it once, and her great nan died from cancer.

So, she has a high chance of getting it also. You can tell that she gets upset thinking or watching anything about cancer. Must be an awful thing to know. Hopefully it won't appear.

I'm being monitored every 6 months for cervical cancer It is scary, but you have to push it to the back of your mind and get on with life. Life can throw some cruel punches.

Life can be so cruel at times. Sometimes it makes me wonder why we are put on this earth, especially young children who die from cancer at a young age, why

Its good you are being monitored, the fatality rate from cervical cancer has plumetted in recent years. I know quite a few women that have had to go in and have pre cancerous cells lasered off. Sadly its those that dont go to screenings etc and dont know about the abnormal cells until its too late.

i'm paranoid about it, every slight pain or whatever i get, i go and see the doctor, i'm convinced i'm going to get it

and its the root of my panic attacks

like i say, i reckon its worse for the people who dont have it, if you have it, you accept it, if you are close, you dont.
