Ive heard numberous rumours about alloys, loads of people say the bigger they are the faster u go, vice versa, the wider they are the better your handling, and vice versa, and just about every combination going against each other with no technical explanation at all. Anyone got one? Real life tests / examples would be great. Just wondering

Cheers!

I know from experience since puttin 17's on, acceleration is alot slower, granted I have a 1.2 16v, but still felt a difference from the 15's

simple really, the bigger the wheel, the more time it will take to make one full rotation, therefore you'll be slowed down a bit, on the smaller engined cars anyway

It's not just the size but also the weight of a rim that affects acceleration, get a light wheel, reduce your unsprung weight, accelerate well.

way over my head there with the tie rods* you have probably seen in the classifieds im after some 14" vauxhall ones, to replace the 14" steels that came on it. These are unlikely to make both and bad difference arent they?

Cheers

no differenece but well look pony, gofor some 15s with 195 45 15 rubber, look good and wont lose any accelleration.
The smaller the wheels the quicker the pull away, bigger wheels give you more top end speed.
