20XE in a corsa, blahblahblah
Cool running thermostat, lower temp fan switch, new 1.4 8v spec corsa rad, two SPAL fans blowing and sucking (from different sides of the rad).
But I'm loosing water, not a dreadful amount, I'd say half a litre every couple of days. This is worked out by the amount I need to put into the expansion tank (when cold) to get the water level back to 'COLD'
When I changed the rad a month ago or so I didnt really bleed anything, took apart the bits that needed to come off and put the new bits on, then filled with coolant+water and run it for abit then topped up.
Oil is still clean as a whisle - How much water would be needed to fuck my oil up?
no steam/crap coming out of exhaust
the cap on the expansion tank hasnt been blown off
I *think* I have checked most/all water pipes and they seem to be on OK.
When the car is running I cant see any visible drips (of water anyway )
I've only seen it fuck up my heat levels when I ran it all night (went to southend and back then was cruising int he local county murdering a few cars). It was at the end of the night taht it started to heat up past 90c, it stuck to 100 and didnt go any further then that (could of been a mix of the fans+stat+speed I was doing trying to get it home )
At the moment I can cope but I want to sort this problem out, I'm not sure whereelse to look and my last resort is to check the headgasket, though even if it was the head gasket I would of expected alot more problems such as loads of pressure in my expansion tank, water/steam coming out of the exhaust or a 20xe and mayo sandwich.
thoughts, ideas, crack pot theorys are welcome.

you have a pump that screws into the top of the header tank, keep pumping which builds up the pressure and will show any weeks points in the cooling system

check and double check the pipes behind the engine, specifically the join to the water pump and the hard black plastic pipe. i had the same problem, found it to be the plastic pipe had a hairline crack along the seam and would only loose water when the system was pressurised.
