The headgasket went on me mums rover 100 and we took it to an engine specialist in liverpool (Lanes End engineering) and they repaired it, 2 days later water pisses out everywhere and it overheats again, me mum hasnt got a clue about cars so didnt know what was happening, just got back from the garage now and they said its neglect for the car and its not there fault, I checked the hoses and every1 leading to the block is split where the jubilee clip has been tightened... they said this is because they used old hoses when they put it back together and we should of asked for new ones... but anyone without any knowledge of cars wouldnt no this??
Do we have a leg to stand on or?
Any help at all will be great cos he wants to charge us another £400 to fix the headgasket again The cars not even worth that much

on moral grounds they should definatley have warned you about needing new hoses BUT I dont know how it would stand in legal terms.
Maybe they could be done for not providing the expected service

IMO, they should have used new hoses if the old ones were goosed.

i think a court would rule that if the garage thought it needed new hoses they should have fitted them.
There is only one way to do a job and that is properly!

ring trading standards, if the garage didn't notice that the pipes were split, or they failed to do anything about it then thats neglect on their part.
gud luck fella
