Had a go at de-restricting my airbox as was bored and found that mine's different to the one in that tutorial.
Mine doesn't have the 90 degree pipe but some other little flap thing (excuse my little knowledge i don't know much bout engines etc) although i did take out the intake pipe like in the first part which was the same.

Is this because it's only a 1.2 8v which isn't fuel injected or something like the 1.6 used in the tutorial. And is there anything i can do to that current setup to de-restrict it?? (i know it's slow as fcuk anyway but ya gotta do this type of crap when ur young)
Cheers

that flap is for the hot air ducting that comes from the top of the manifold. its kind of like a secondary air pump setup, but very basic, and does a bit more. the little red tube near the airbox is your vacuum pipe which runs to a sensor on the inlet manifold. the vacuum pipe detects the temperature in the airbox by its density, and the valve you can see inside, opens and closes when neccesary. it does this to keep the engine running as cleanly as possible. you can scrap it all so the air entering the inlet is the same cool air entering the airbox. that rubber pipe running from the exhaust manifold can be scrapped, and the hole sealed up.

Your car will be fuel injected.

i would reccomend getting down to a scrappies and getting yourself an airbox from a 16v engine, will fit straight in, and less crap to clean out

It is, and seeing as it's a 97 it WILL be fuel injection.
