TBH there really isnt much wrong with having a quick blast if there conditions are fine, the road is clear and you use your common sense.

I don't mind putting my foot down now and then.
I'm not one for tanking it everywhere, it costs too much in fuel, and i'm in no rush.
Providing the conditions are right, wide, empty road, not raining and a road that I know, then i will have a blast.

My old Corsa was a 1.0 so it could be beaten by everything on the road.
However, my new Astra is pretty quick but as its not really modifed and I haven't had anyone try it on, So I don't know what cars are faster than mine.

i have got a 1.0 and i am overtaking people everywhere. even took a motorbike the other day!!!
as long as you know the roads then it doesn't matter what size engine you have got!! if you know the roads then you can brake later, overtake at the right points etc.
anyway next year hopefully gunna put a 2 litre in it (once i have got 2 years no claims!) and then i should be able to go around quite easily!!

I really do think that to get anywhere you have to rag 1.2 8vs, hence the 25mpg

1.2 8v's are shocking mpg, my average was close to 35mpg and that included duel carriageway runs.
