Had a disasterous couple of days with the car, took it down to noble motorsport to get it mapped since fitting the new cams and longer trumpets to the throttle bodies. Dropped it off at 2pm on thursday and returned at 5.30 to find the car hadnt been touched as they were unable to time the cams in before it went on the rolling road. There was a problem with the vernier pulleys which meant the timing belt had to be striped off again and re-fitted from scratch. there wasnt any space in the engine workshop to do it so the car had to stay there overnight.
Managed to stay at a mates house overnight (noble is 150 mile drive from home)

The car was then booked in to be started at 8am this morning. got a phonecall at 10 am to say that I better get to the garage and take a look. Turns out that the vernier pulleys I had bought were knackered and the bolts had been done up so tight that when they were slackened off to adjust the cam timing the thread stripped away from the pulley.

so a £140 mapping session quickly turned into:

£100 labour (for a job I could have done with my eyes closed)
£170 New pulleys
£50 labour to re-fit it all
£140 for mapping
£50 train fares

So the car is stuck there till new parts get there and Im car-less and had to come home on the train.

its odd because the car has been fine but in the last 2 months ive had a head gasket failiure and now this.

Its my fault tho, headgasket was because I used cheap jubilee clips on a radiator hose and the problem with the verniers was that they were 2nd hand.

anyway, even on the drive down the car drove 100 times better than before, the longer trumpets (120mm) made a big notiable difference in torque. and sounds
