weight and strength

ally is a no no really, unless its just for looks

stainless is good, but expensive

steel is probably the best

you want seamless cold drawn steel

its normally painted.

ring a company who makes proper race/rally cages, like caged, racing developments, SD... ask what the best option is for you...

it depends what you're after really

Don't have my book with me but it's chromolly steel you want. You could get it powder coated providing that it's done before the cage is fitted.

for just track use go for 2mm, anything extra will just add weight and u dont really need the extra wall thickness
