Im installing a resturant counter in Waitrose next to the river. As far as I know its in a shopping centre / arcade. Is the parking there good? Is there much to see in and around the town centre?

Cheers,

Ben.

Town Centre parking is bad iirc.

Sights? Hell yeah, there's a nice Cathedral if your into that kind of stuff. Durham is a proper old town, plenty of history and stuff related to its past.

I'm not from Durham, but went there a few weeks ago.

You'll be able to park in the Waitrose car park. Just make sure you leave your numberplate with the people at the welcome desk when you sign in as a visitor...

River is nice, you can go boating on it too Not sure about parking there as im not sure where it is. Parking generally is ok but theres a fair bit in the centre that you can't drive to. City is good for a look about, as said its all old with alot of history etc. Cathedral is really good but might not be your scene?
It's about 20-25 mins from the coast.

Yeah it's nice, my parents live up there, I moved down to London about 5 years ago. Don't know where Waitrose is but the Prince Bishop multistory car park is OK. Nowhere really to park for free now, but hell it's a lot cheaper than London.

Not too far from the coast, just get on the A19 and you're nearly there.

This is the view from jus outside waitrose

Parking is easy round there, there's a multistorey for that shopping centre but the spaces are small so if you're in a van it's a no no! (come to think of it, you wouldn't get under the barrier anyway!). If you go as if you are going to go into the multi storey but don't turn right under the barrier, keep going and you go under the shopping centre and long by the river. There are loads of spaces down there which are right outside waitrose but people don't really use (too far to walk to the city if you're lazy!)
