Surely you wouldn't choose an automatic flexy-body-special over a hard as nails tin top with a proper box Jammers?

Yep, i'm decided, just as soon as I come into a huge sum of money i'm gonna have a black one with black leather and the matt black perforated rear panel.
(And i'll buy Jambo a nice wobbly left hand drive convertible one in red with an automatic gearbox. )
I might even have my wheels refinished in black.
I'll never wash it, and i'll swap the exhaust for something a little more dramatic sounding.

Ha ha, sorry Jambo, only just noticed the title of the thread fully, and that it is specifically about the spyder.
Still inferior anyhoo and looks like poop with the roof up, plus is missing something rather important with it down, i.e. a roof.

Svm its about beauty if i wanted it purely to go fast i wouldnt be buying an f355.
There are other much more effective tools...
But none combine the elements like this does. Its my dream car i think.

A Service is about £8k or something crazy like that
Don't know who told you it was £8k for a service...

If you come into a huge sum of money I wish you luck finding someone willing to take it off you without rubber gloves

So
2 U 2
I'd be very happy with one on a performance front personally Jambo.
0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds and 180+ mph and shocking in gear acceleration would do me very nicely, especially in something that looks and sounds like a 355. I've wanted one desperately since I first clapped eyes on the car.
It just seems to me that the rag top is all wrong.
IMO it is less attractive, plus it cost more new than the proper car, and probably still does 2nd hand. It will also weigh more, flex like a mother & handle poorly, feel cramped and noisy inside and stand a better chance of killing you if you land it on it's roof.
I don't like convertibles anyway. I've driven a lot of different ones and hated them all.
In each case I found that the car was all over the place steering and handling wise, and had some degree of scuttle shake (usually bad at least), and that the sun was in my eyes the whole time.
I admit some cars can look quite pretty without a roof, but I feel they are a terrible compromise.
The same applies to TVRs, i'd love a Cerbera, but i'd never buy a Griffith even though I think they look lovely.
We shall have to agree to disagree on this one. You can have a lovely soft top in red and i'll have an equally lovely hard top in black.
