The worst bit is it's a £100 fine, but if you pay quickly it's reduced to £50.
If you contest it, and lose, you have to pay the complete fine. This basically just means you pay it even if you think you could contest, because you don't want to take the risk of the fine doubling. Clever

I got a parking one, same style, 60 or 30 if you pay it now. I paid it and asked the girl that if I would get a refund in the event of my appeal being successful, she said yes.
They refused the first informal representation though, having clearly not read my letter, and I'm still waiting on the next reply, so I still might not ever see my 30 quid again.

I remember fairly recently getting on a tube train at Covent Garden at rush hour.
I now know how tinned sardines feel!
Thats the worst station ever. Its always busy, at all times of the day!
The lifts too, who's idea was that
Ever walked up the stairs? If not, dont! Trust me
Only tourists do the stairs. People in the know don't even bother.

I got a parking ticket a few months ago in Brum. I wanted to pay over the phone, however thier phoe system had been down for a few days. I wrote the council a letter stating that it was too great an inconvenience to me to pay via post and that I would rather pay by phone... Er. Haven't heard from them since
The thing about that sort of thig is they get so many letters through and they issue so many fines they don't have the resources to administer all the data. Didn't Westimister Council just write off something like £10million's worth of fines because they had lost track of all the un-paid tickets or something? Make the most out of it while you can I say

First I get £50 fine as I went in the congestion charge zone a couple minutes before it finished (that'll teach me to set my clock more accurately).
Then I've just got another £50 for stopping in a box junction (due to a huge traffic jam) when my exit was blocked. There's a bloody bus next to me, and four other cars stopped with me....
Ken GRRRRR
Tim, gaffer tape your number plates out, remove your tax disc and put a balaclava on. Then hit central London.
Do all the red light and speeding cameras you can find, do the congestion charge area, and do plenty of bus lane activity.
It might pay to moon at the cameras and flip them the bird too.
The feeling of satisfaction should be immense mate.

I hate london......
But i don't mind Ken, as he likes bikes and doesn't charge us.
Go to london by car, expect SOME kind of fine
Go by bike, no issues at all
PS, penalty charge for cars etc is a GOOD thing. Reduces emissions, reduces traffic, and improves other qualitys of london from the revenue created. People who drive into the city and make it as bad as it is should pay for the right.
