polish is not wax
polish is used to remove light swirl marks and scratchs and basically make the car shine. Wax protects the paint and leaves a layer of protection.
Off the shelf stuff I'd go for megs clay or paint cleaner followed by Autoglym super resin then topped with either Autoglym extra gloss protection, megs nxt tech wax or megs gold class.
If you want to spend more money, nattys blue or p21s are very good.
If you're serious about cleaning and protecting your paint get on www.detailingworld.co.uk

The clay is neither polish or wax though. It's Blutac.
