...anyone ever suffered from these also?

Keep getting them and it kills... and it's really pissing me off when i run now! Anyone know ways of curing it or solutions? I've used ice baths and cold packs but they just make it feel better really.

Don't want to rest them for weeks on end as i rather like running....?

I used to suffer from them, its mainly down to your running style.

Concentrate on rolling your foot better, land on the heal and roll the foot to the toe and push off with your toes, should see a big improvement.

Only cure for them is rest really, take a few weeks off running and do some swimming/bike work instead!

You can have an operation. If you road run try running on softer terain.Dont keep doing the same route either do it backwards (and i dont mean run backwrds ,i mean the route) and mix and match.Same route = same strain same place each time

go paula radcliffe style and pull your socks up to your knee's. That was the reason she always had her socks up when people we're taking the pee... so in effect she looked stupid but it helped her

i'd say rest them mate, only way they are going to get better, unless like said above try swimming etc...

My running style's not perfect i know but i do roll my foot quite well, i think the fact i run on hard surfaces doesn't help and i weigh quite a lot as well as being pretty tall...

Think i may have to do some swimming again or biking, thanks Bram

Anton: always mixing up the route i run a mix of soft and hard, certainly find it better on the soft stuff but sometimes i still get them if it's fairly compact but most notably better I quite liked some routes on tarmac though but suppose its a case of just changing

I have them from doing huge jumps skiing. Got no way of curing them without not doing any form of sport until they have healed.

Funny enough feels like you have splinters in your shins when your running and your foot lands on the ground.

What are the symptoms of shin splints?

Shin splints cause pain in the front of the outer leg below the knee. The pain of shin splints is characteristically located on the outer edge of the mid region of the leg next to the shin bone (tibia). An area of discomfort measuring 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) in length is frequently present. Pain is often noted at the early portion of the workout, then lessens only to reappear near the end of the training session. Shin splint discomfort is often described as dull at first. However, with continuing trauma, the pain can become so extreme as to cause the athlete to stop workouts altogether.

I played 45 mins outfield yesterday and was the only one tracking back, and today I feel good still, I have been over the park everyday this week running a mile at least, I have the legs just not the lungs.
