And keeping the standard shocks, what are the views on this?
I know it's probably been covered many times but want a definite answer. Is it advisable for just road use? Found some very very cheap springs for sale locally, cheers in advance.

it depends how low. anything over 35/40mm would ideally need the shorter shocks to go with it, but other than that you should be fine

The springs are -40mm, I'm sure I read somewhere (99% it was here ) that you can do it but it will just make the standard shocks wear out quicker, nothing about a bad ride quality?
Suspension isn't my thing

you get bad ride quality on matched shocks
i ran FK springs on my car for about 6 months, it was fine, never had any trouble with it, but when i went lower, i got koni dampers too
i'm gonna run Eibach springs on my C, with standard dampers. as long as the dampers are in good working order, it'll be fine

yeah, generally they last about 60k if you are unlucky.
do it for now, with the intention of upgrading to a brand new full kit at some point
make sure you get the tracking checked afterward too

Ta for the advice, sounds like too much hassle TBH...knocking the tracking out.. shoot ride quality... should I encounter any other problems?
I'll sleep on it, cheers

I had my car lowered on just 40mm spax springs before i changed everything. Was perfectly fine, drove well and took all the rolliness away that Corsa's have. Even my dad said it was an improvement.

Mixed opinions then really?
Joe, although it handling better would be a positive point, with it being a 1.2 8v speed isn't the first thing on my mind

do it properly. might as well cos the dampers will not last long anyway.
ride will be a bit poor and bouncy and the handling will be a bit crap due to the dampers being pulled in and out faster and harder by the uprated spring.

TBH Id rather have decent quality springs on good standard dampers than a cheap "matched" kit such as gmax

well the only decent quality off the shelf spring kit are eibachs or H&R.
they are ok on standard shocks but dont expect transformed handling.

Like I said I don't want improved handling, that's just an added bonus, looks is what I'm after.
Cheers for the input

Joe your car looks to be a nice ride height, what springs are you using? the ones made for a lower model or springs for the GSi model? last time I lowered I purchased some gsi/sport springs as they seem to sit slightly lower rumour had it

Calidus i'm on Gmax 60mm springs now, I used to have just Spax 40mm springs but it was'nt low enough for my liking.

That was when it was just on the Spax springs

Thats it now on 60mm Gmax

Pretty crap tbh, but if you want it that low you gota expect that unless you spend alot more money on Coilovers.

do they take the bounce out of the ride though because i would rather it be bumpy and crap rather than feeling like im on a boat!

They make it less boat like, but its still pretty bouncy. I have Koni Adjustables too, but I would'nt wana go that low on standard dampers anyway.
