Started working as a Drawing Controller back in March, and as I had no previous office experience they took me on in a junior role. This lasted about 3 weeks as the guy I replaced wanted to come back! They told me they wanted me to stay though and they had other roles as well as this one to do. I've since being shared between the Design and Estimating departments and theres talk of me going in to Marketing too. I had a meeting with the CAD manager and Personell manager this afternoon and they said the job is permanant if I want it. They're going to draw up a job role description for me. Hopefully this may mean a bit more money too!

As I went back to my desk I heard the manager say to one of the other drawing controllers if he had any job title ideas for me! Even they don't know what my job is anymore!

They came up with:

Office Services Assistant

I pulled the head of Drawing Control to one side and said i wasn't keen on this as I'm part of Design. I said by signing a contract for this I could end up stuck in a department that isn't my job.

I suggested Drawing Control Assistant, and he went back to his desk and showed me the original statement. He'd already crossed it out and put Drawing Control Assistant and totally re wrtitten HR's job description

Will have to see what the manager says now
