Timing belt snapped on my T reg 1.4 sport a week or so ago..

My dads mate owns a garage and has taken the head off and had a look at it and says its not fixable..

Is it worth trying to source a new engine and get it fitted?

Where from?

How much roughly?

Yes they don't go for much as they're not such a popular choice compared to 1600. Few hundred quid should get you a sound one if you can wait for one to come up.

1.4 16v are cheap as chips secondhand, as are 1.6 16v's tgo be honest... i bought a 1.4 off captain muppet of sport for 70 quid with gearbox, put a new headgasket on and it went on forever

Theres one on ebay - looks a bit scruffy though

Theres always breakers if your desperate!! There more expensive but might be worth a call!!

Yeah ive been trawling the bay and think i know what one you're talking about.

Ill have a look on mig tho

Ive foned around some breakers but yeah theyre a taad more expensive..
Had a quote for 950 and one for 1150

Have to keep lookin i spose..

you take the old fooked lump to vaux along with a pile of cash... they give you a nice shiney new/re-con engine

I think its an engine replacement thing through vauxhall!!

Basically you get a recon engine & they get your old one as an exchange + empty the bank

Someone on here will have one....Just keep this post near to the top!!
