i would also like to loose the chunk, for the last 2 weeks i have been riding my bike to work and back (about 4-5miles each way) and eating mostly chicken/ham salad type stuff. I have never paid much attention to health and fitness type stuff before, am i going the right way about it?

Yes and no. Chicken will give you protein which is the building block of muscles. Do you want to gain muscle or just loose fat? How many calories are you taking in per day?

Sounds like you are going in the right direction mate. Keep the cardio up, the carbs and fat low, still eat plenty of protein from lean meat sources, eggs and fish.

Also drink lots of water and reduce the booze if you have the willpower.

That depends on your height, weight and activity level. try this for a rough estimate http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blcalcalc.htm

Subtract approx 500 cals from that maintainence figure and you should start to lose weight slowly and surely.

Try and eat 5-7 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up.

Check out www.bodybuilding.com's fat loss forum for loads of info mate.

Its a kind of drastic approach But works, I followed the atkins Diet for 3 weeks, the so called induction period + a week, and Lost 20 Pounds, After that I got Into swimming so now swim 1km, 3 times a week in the morning Before college, and Eat sesibly, So if you wana loose it pretty quick, and have a good mind state e.g. Make sure you dont continue on atkins forever as it is dangerous but a quick 3 week burst is ok.
Fish, Eggs, Bacon etc certain salads (Less than 20g of Carbs per day) , and some excercise when your energy builds up from being on the diet a week is basically how atkins works.

its already been said eat less calories and increase cardio work, its not rocket science just takes time and commitment.

aim for around 1800 cals a day spread out over 6 meals , cardio around 4-5 times a week.

situps do naff all dont bother, wait till your body fat is down then work on increasing mucle size imo; as increasing abb size at the moment just pushes the fat out and you tend to get demotivated.

6 packs are made in the kitchen not the gym

lots of water and protein, tuna, chiken, eggs ect, cut back on carbs.
