Ive had a few off mains at work. Mainly when something dosent work and I forget to turn off the power before stripping down to fauklt find.

PS You cant get a shock off 5v 12 or any other low voltage as its not enough to force current through such a resistive body.

Had quite a funny shock happen the otherday, was at work..

went upstairs to my overall locker, as i went to open the door, i got a massive belt from the handle.

turns out the wires for the tv on the table next to my locker was plugged in, and the locker had cut through the cable.

I replaced a incomming overhead mains box the other week and got an 80amp belt!!! my stupid fault as i didnt test it. the power line was hanging off the side of the house and the electricity board meant to have turned the power off !!!

That was a good kick burnt me in 2 places and was more of a boot that the 415 i had 2 years ago !!

Ive had 2 many 240v shocks changing sockets live etc doesnt hurt in my eyes i touched it for $20 the other month. that was covered by a 20amp breaker though!

no biggie, its not much of a big deal if its a low ampage, static formers can produce around 10,000volts but with very low ampage, quite safe to touch.

I got a nasty shock off a car alternator yesterday - was trying to get the oil filter off (Rover 214 K series - awkward placement), and bridged the live terminal to an earthing point - with my hand right in between - brand new battery as well!

Thats utter crap mate, a car battery on its own may just kill an ant if it was wet through. If you connect some sort of transformer to up the voltage(ie ignition coil) then you can get yourself a nice shock!

Fair play mate. Didn't mean to sound off though.
Ive heard plenty of people saying similar stuff before so its no wonder people get misguided ideas on the subject.

If your interested the theory goes like this;

100mA Is enough to give a decent shock and could stop your heart
The typical human body has a resistance of 500,000 Ohms

Current = Voltage / Resistance

= 12 V / 500,000 Ohms

= 0.024mA

As said, this is negligible.
