I can see where your coming from, but at the end of the day if I now had the choice (which sadly I don't) I would rather be with her than my mates, and if that means spending less time with my mates then so be it. If it didn't work out with the burd, then my mates will still be around for me. 
In my circle of mates, one of them did just that, spent all his time with his bird. Now on the few chances he does come out with us he finds it hard to integrate with us. He isnt in on the jokes, has no idea what we are talking about which in turn means he is more reluctant to come out with us. Sooner or later he will stop coming out with us altogether, we will lose contact with him. Then if him and his missus split up, whos he gonna have? I know full well his parents wont be there for him..........

You have valid points, but I chose my mates over my burd and now live to regret it
I suppose it's all down to getting the balance between mates and the burd right
Mates nights for me were thursdays and saturdays.......saturdays were spent with the mates in the local slag shack which the burd hated, she wanted to spend saturday nights with me  I didn't want to let the mates down, and refused to compromise, in the end it caused so many rows we decided to split. I guess she wasn't asking that much
I regret it big time.........at the end of the day its your future partner you will be spending the rest of your life with, not your mates

My bird didnt like me going out with my pals because there a bunch of shaggers and thought I would follow suit 
if I took her out with my pals she would just flirt outragiously with them and make me look like a cunt......cant win

Did she not have mates to go out with? She should have understood that you needed some 'man' time. Sounds like she didnt trust you.

In love is balls i think, its just that people assume the phrase means one thing. Its just a made up phrase at the end of the day that people associate with something.

A health balance is best, got to see the mates as well as the girlfriend. If you see the same person 24/7 your going to get tired off them, if you don't then you are probably foolish and kid yourself that you are in love! imo.

Me too Rob. Well in my case I don't hear from her or see her, but sometimes on the off chance when I have a lot of idle time I think about her and the past we shared, and that hurts me so.
Now I just try to engage myself in any sort of activities just to keep busy and not slide back into the bad depressive state I was in relatively recently.
