Im off to Silverstone this weekend for the formula one. Fisrt time me and some of my mates have been and just wondering how to plan the weekend.
Everyone says you should camp on the satarday night, do you just pitch your tent up or do you have to reserve pitching space before hand.
What are the essentials to take for the weekend. Lots have people have said ear plugs are a must..... are they just being pussies.
Also -- does anyone know how tight security is where you park and camp --- wouldnt mind bringing some continental cigarettes

Ear plugs arnt really neccesary, but they hand them out free on entrance iirc. Take sun-cream if you plan on sitting/standing in the sun to watch

You can't camp at the circuit buddy you need to go to a campsite owned by local land people nearby... best bet is:
Whittlebury (you can book) 01327 858092 - backs onto Stowe area
Litchlake (1st come 1st servee) 01327 857955 - right outside main gate
Those two are the closest but if you can't get in via them gimme a u2u and i can get you more numbers .etc
Security on the day don't like glass bottles (in the circuit) but if ure camping then its minimal continental cigs shud be ok they're but obviously be careful as you would anyway!
Earplugs are handed out on the day as it is loud but not really totally necessary.... jus take them in and out throughout the day
anything else?
Oh yeah what ticket have you got? you may need sun screen as its gonna be real hot and only a few grandstands offer cover
Timetable for the weekend
Spectator Info
Also, you should have received a booklet with your tickets with all info in (if you booked with ourselves @ Silverstone direct) otherwise i'm not sure what the agency u did it thru issue you with

Spot on for that dna--- great help.
At the Litchlake campground what time do you advise to get there for on the satarday....probably just give them a ring in a minute.

Also-- can you take bikes into the circuit, or do you just use them to get to and from the campsite

You can mate but its at your own responsibility as we don't provide any means of locking them up .etc
Litchlake... gets busy quick as its soo close now baring in mind gates open at 6am its best to be there asap! try phoning them to get an indication of how many calls they've had and wat it was like last year

just phoned whittlebury--- sounds really good, unlimited places, close to circuit.
Only bad thing is that you have to book for a week £110 per car & tent.

Camping seems bit too much hassle and money....How long wouldyou think it would take to commute there each day... were only in Oxford so its close enough, but I know its supposed to be a nightmare

replied to your u2u buddy.... didn't realise you were only in Oxford - not to far to come realistically if you can make it here earlier... getting out will be the problem mate as everyone leaves at the same time!
It's been a lot worse in years gone by.... now we have this one way system sorted it usually moves a lot quicker
