One of the bolts that hold on the timing belt idler/roller has snapped , inside the cyliner head 
Have tried to drill it out but it isn't budging.
What can I do ?
Could the roller be attatched with liquid metal  ?

err no not if you like your engine in one piece
drill the bolt and use a left handed tapp and soke it well with wd40 it should come out if not get some ez-outs and try that

Simple but also tricky job!
If you've drilled the hole central you could use a easy-out tool which is a left hand threaded removal tool, so as your screwing it in the pre drilled hole, fingers crossed it should easy it off.
I've done this at work before, snapped a stud that is. I drilled mine dead centre then used a fine punch to hammer the thread away, basically knocking the left over thread towards the centre of the hole to avoid damanging the thread in the block/head.

Take it to an engineer. Don't try sorting it yourself anymore because this kind of thing is a right bugger if you don't have a proper bench drill as you are drillind hardened steel with hardened steel which will just get hot and make the steel even harder and hotter until everything breaks, you slip and you drill into the aluminium head. D'oh.....

Thats going to be costly as I've just done the head gasket and all new bolts etc
Anything else I can do ?

its a difficult one mate. if it was me i would remove the head and get it to an engineering shop. its only £20 for a new gasket and set of bolts.

use an easy out thats the best and easiest way assuming you haven't drilled too big a hole already! have to do this sometimes at work with screws etc that the head had gone on etc and its really easy as long as you drill the right size hole nice and central

a machine shop/engineer wont charge a fortune to fix it.....
If you do all the work before hand stripping stuff etc

It will only be an hours labour, I would do it, it's cheaper than a new head as you can't DIY this...

be VERY carefull with these... that can expand the bolt then snap in the bolt itself... i had this happen on one of my reyland 4pots about 1 hour after paying 700 quid for them...

Well if you do take it to an engineering place and they drill it out on a vertical miller, the hole wil be straight, they will prob helicoil it as well i might be wrong.

Have acquired a c16xe head at an ok price anyway chaps , which means a bit more bhp , but cheers for the advice

fit new stem seals and get the head pressure checked and skimmed before you fit it

Its already skimmed and pressure tested mate
