I saw what must have been the most immaculate Mercedes in the world last night! It was a 280 SE 3.5 4 door. Car was silver and it was so shiny that I thought it was polished steel when I was walking up to it!! Didn't get any pics, as I thought the owner was putting cash in the meter!!

Love those old Mercs. Thats from the time when they used to build them properly.
Definately a car I'd have in my car collection if I was millionaire...

I tried to explain to my mates that this is the kind of car you cruise around Europe in with that V8 burbling away, they wern't feeling it though

see heaps of these old girls out here, there was a totally MINT silver one for sale nearby, was the 4.0 V8 too. we dont get rain much so classics are everywhere

When I was in Sydney (Merrylands), I was shocked at how many old Fords (eg.Mk1 Escort) are still running about, in decent nick too! What I noticed was the shells were solid but the paintwork was usually battered by the sun. Still, I think I'd rather have a respray every couple of years than have the car rust from underneath me (as they do here)
