Probably, there is a LCD screen in the pipeline that offers silly constrast ratios and lcds are becoming better and better, with improvements to plasmas being few and far between.
It will be a few years yet before plasmas are completly gone and are still regarding as the movie addicts choice of screen (currently), but no doubt it will change

Plasma is far superior to LCD, except that the screen resolution on smaller screens is smaller, however this tends to me less noticable due to the better picture quality.

Plasma has:

50" 1080p Hi-Definition available

Blacker Blacks

Less viewing angle issues

No direct sunlight issues

I've read that the difference between 1080i and 1080p hi-def isn't noticable too much on smaller screens, but Pioneer have one available.

I'd have Plasma any day over LCD - if I could afford it

Im not even thinking about buying a TV until they meet Hi-Def standards and needs - whcih currently most do not.

This is 2006 not 2003.
Saying plasmas with lower resolutions are better than Lcd's with higher resolution is just a totally invalid point.
At up to at least 32" and probably above lcd is far superior to plasma.
I'm not even sure how small plasmas go.
I've still not seen any of the really expensive plasmas so can't comment on them but any I have seen don't come close to lcd.
You find a simliarly specced and priced plasma that is better than for instance a Sony V series.

"Plasma is far superior to LCD" just isn't true.

I ahve a Bravia KDSL32 something or other. Its awesome. On stuff like DVDs, or when connected to the PC (as it has a proper PC input), the picture is amazing. I've got a shit digital signal, so the picture is good, but not as good as it should be.
