Richy Burns, no doubt a promising star, although I think everyone just wanted Georgey to lay off the ale, because you knew if he died you'd be gutted for him.

Don't agree with your statement, he wasn't affected, doesn't mean he wasn't sad about either.

my sentiments are the same as sam's tbh, i wasnt upset at all by either, theres more important things that getting upset by people who you didnt know dying
but i think RB's death was more tragic than GB, GB was sort of asking for it IMO

rob you cant say that though.. once youre addicted to something you can no longer think logically like a perfectly well able bodied person. one taste of alcohol wud have been enuff to send Georgie on a binge.
some of you lot need to grow up really..... i dont watch rally as i find it slightly boring after a while BUT i was as gutted as anyone when RB died.
whatever the circumstances .... its always sad to lose such a person thats been in the nations hearts for years !

In fairness to the debate here
It would be the other way around if GB had snuffed it in his prime like Burns did.
At least Best had a career and a life afterwards. Burns (and anybody else for that matter who dies so young) was robbed of his life

didnt notice the end part of ur comment mate..... the reason for that is simply becuase football is bigger than rally and more people knew and loved george best ( dont mean any disrespect to RB, its just a fact, whichever sport is huge sells papers.... you never see rugby in the paper for instance cos no one with a brain is arsed about it...BTW i dont mean rally is on the same level as rugby because it isnt)

Both are sad losses, Best more to some people, Burns more to others.
The plane would take off.

TBH shelly I consider Alcoholism to be a mental disease the same as others...
Ive had a couple of mates (older than me ) commit suicide due to alcohlic induced depression. It wasnt like they woke up one day and decided to be an alcoholic.
Many bad things over many years took there effect, and the poor buggers just drank to block it all out
I understand, BUT I had a friend who died in a car accident, he was drunk and not wearing his seatbelt. That night it was his decision to get in his car drunk and not put his seatbelt on, no one elses. There are always people drumming into us the effects of alcohol, drink driving and not wearing a seatbelt. It's a personal choice, not something which they have no control over.
