My dad was telling me the other night that a woman was sat at some traffic lights which were currently on red. An ambulance came up behind her, so she moved forward to allow them through. A nearby CCTV captured her going through on red and she got a court summons. She pleaded that she only moved forward to allow the ambulance through. They told her that as far as the law was concerned she had run a red light.
She received 3 points and a £60 fine.
It really is pathetic, she moves forward to allow them through and gets points, or she obeys the law and potentially costs someone their life.
Just now I've been sat at a set of temporary traffic lights at some road works which were on red. One of the road workers at the other end ushered me through, there must have been a problem at the other end. So technically have I just run a red light, or was it ok because I was told to do so? Do they have the authority over these temporary traffic lights?

Did she go to court or guilty by post?, I'd have gone to court and had my say.

If it was me I would have walked up to the judge, pulled my winkie out, rolled back the skin & proceed to wee all over his boots. See how he likes being pissed upon by something small, bald & wrinkly!!

If she would have taken that to court and backed up what she said with CCTV footage then im sure the judge would have shown some discretion...

I've heard of that before. You get done. The correct thing to do is to sit there and block the road until the lights change. Ridiculous.

Sadly it is, and you just know an ambulance will be sat behind you with the sirens on full whack and beeping the horn to get past

Yes. Ive seen it on one of the emergency service tv programmes. An ambulance pushed a car out of the way to get through.

simple its not required by law to move for emergency vehicles, it is required by law to obey traffic lights, technically she did break the law more by running the light, the fact at which was the bigger issue is up for discussion
