if it was a small sign id assume the whole road was 40, if it was a large sign id know i was going into a 40 zone.

kz you seem to not understand the rules of road signes.
if there isnt a road sign telling you what speed is maximum allowed, and you havent past any signs telling you what is the allowed speed, its known as 30mph. going onto a m'way, or duelcarrigeway, and evan national speedlimit roads, all have signs advising you the speed.
only time you see the speed limit signs along a road regularly, is for example, on a country road that could be seen as national speed limit but is actually 40, and you'll see little 40 signs all along the road.
maybe you mate would have been better running the dick in the yollow jacket over. now that would have been funny, and i bet he wouldnt stop people like that in future
