I have someone that wants to purchase my car. He wants to send a Western Union cheque, wait till it clears, before he can pick it up. Is there something dodgy here ?

Yes very! Never use Western Union for selling something.

there was alot of ebay scams a while back with folk trying this, they say they will send you some extra money and you give it to the shipping person and in the end you get screwed

i had some dodgy woman ages ago trying to western union me some money, there is a scam where they wester union it to ya, get the item and they can still get the money back somehow. that was a scam and has been reported on the news and in papers.
ask for cash on collection or nothing! even if he wont and you dont sell it to him, im 99.9% sure you will be better off at the end!
