its not been done yet. It will have had a full rebuild, head skimmed, valves reground ect.

Because I am a mechanic and it will only cost me the price of the parts. The engine cost me nothing due to the HG being away. I think that if I rebuild it it will sell easier.

You probably won't increase its value sufficiently to make it worth the time spent, its still a 1400.

what about just doing the head gasket then. it was in my sport and running fine there was just low comp in cylindar 1 so was really slow but ran ok.

if we sort what ever the problem was i.e. gasket / rings etc how much would it be worth? prob do timing belt too

TBH I wouldnt pay more than 250 for it because its a 1400 and theres presumerably no guarantee with the rebuild. Id imagine you are more than capable, but thats where most folk are going to stand
