Replaced the standard thing with a K&N, found half a dead bird in the air box Wasn't pretty cleaning it out. About 300 dead flies in there aswell. At least now I know my engine is breathing properly. I didnt expect any perfomance increases. Seems to idle better though could this be because its cleaner now?

Smoothing it? Is that really going to affect anything? At the end of the day you will always pick up alot of shit in there.

Well there was a wing and two feet, couldnt really make out the rest, just a load of feathers. I dont know how it got up there cos the intake is reeeally small.

You'll slightly improve air flow.

I think the bird might have been bought off ebay. A forced induction kit, where the bird flaps its wings as fast as it can to improve air flow. In that respect I think air flow might be on the down

I'm surprised at my Green filter actually, its been in the car 10k and its only needed cleaning once and even then it wasn't half as bad as I was expecting.

Im not bothering with the airfilter thing this time.

May get a k&N panel filter purely for audible reasons.
