gearbox problems my own fault really was on a quiet dual carriageway i thought i would wind the car up, i finally sorted my speedo out so could see how fast she goes! got gsi clocks (cheers col) so any ways came of the roundabout in second foot planted to the floor 6.5k change sweet all going good 3rd into 4th 100-110-115 change into 5th BANG first thoughts wot the fuk dipped the clucth slowed down into fourth fine fifth no drive shit! rattling noise from box, lucky all the other gears worked fine as fifth is right at the end of the gear set by end plate just rattled round, was funny looking back but got it back and left it outside work so ill inspect damage tomorrow already got another f20 to fit £35 have got an f28 ready so will pick that up in a month or so will save changing boxs all the time but was thinkin of changing the gear set for a quafie item as f20's are considerably lighter than the f28! and f28 needs lots of work to put in well more than f20 is it worth the effoert to fit f28?

I'd stick with your plans to put the F28 in.
You'll just keep knackering F20s otherwise

A Quaiffe setup is fucking expensive. An F28 is a few hundred quid.

I think if you are worried about weight then you've gone for the wrong engine, never mind gearbox

Thought that was the case... Not very usefull when you want to put 210bhp+ through it.

well mine has close to 300bhp and 300ft lbs on high boost so maybe an f28 would be best in the long run

Yes, that might be right, putting 300ft lbs through a gearbox designed for 200 lbs ft is probably not the best of ideas

My mate blew his F28 up, his engine is only running EDS Phase 2. I guess it's just luck half of the time as your dealing with fairly old gear now days.
